Happy Father's Day / Summer Solstice.
The weather here continues to be unusual, looking more like winter than summer with nearly solid overcast that is keeping the days on the cool side (mid- to upper 80s instead of mid- to upper 90s) and the nights too warm (70s instead of 60s).
The better 7/8ths continues to heal. We dropped off the CPM machine on Thursday after some confusion as to when the machine was supposed to be returned. We got a phone call the morning of the 17th saying that the machine was due that day. Called up, talked to someone who said that the date was entered incorrectly in the computer and that, yes, the machine was scheduled to be returned on Thursday the 18th and not that day.
Get a call later that day, machine was due to be returned on the 17th. Please call back. We call back, telling them that we already took care of this, or so we thought. Everything is OK, not to worry. Bring the machine back on the 18th.
Morning of the 18th - before 8 AM. Phone rings. It is the CPM place calling to tell us we HAVE TO RETURN THE MACHINE - PLEASE CALL BACK! The better 7/8ths calls back immediately and speaks to the person who has been leaving the calls, telling her that yes we were bring the machine back later that morning as per the contract we signed. The start date of the contract was entered incorrectly in the computer, so sorry.
So we get up earlier than expected. Head up to deliver the machine and swing by the hospital asking about an item on the bill. Took our information, said that they would call back that day. Still waiting to hear back from them concerning an item on the bill of around $19,000 listed as "Implant - Cardiac."

The workshop that I signed up for at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is on. Made the reservation at the hotel - over $1000 for 6 nights (Sunday July 19th - Friday July 25th) - forgot that summertime is prime time in SF for visiting. *sigh* Still am looking forward to the workshop. Need to load on the Nikon capture software only my Mac. This will probably be the last workshop that I'll be taking this year. May talk to the instructor that I had this summer and ask her what my next step should be since she said that I'm beyond the beginner level.
And speaking of workshops, have a one day (afternoon, really) workshop this upcoming Saturday. Working with models outside in the wilds of NM. Sounds like it should be fun.

Iran is revolting against it's duly selected president and the Supreme Leader. Years ago there was the saying that "The revolution will be televised." This was changed to "The revolution will be posted on YouTube." However, the saying should now be: "The revolution will be Twittered."
I've been a skeptic of the whole Twitter thing, calling the users Twidiots. I will have to admit, though, that as a mechanism for getting information out from Iran to the western world, Twitter has been beyond extremely useful as an organizational tool. I would go so far as to say that the revolution wouldn't have progressed as far as it has and as organized as it is w/o tools like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter.
Who would have thought that Web 2.0 tools would help to foster a revolution.
